Sports Groups

Käringsund Resort & Conference is the perfect place for both large and small groups as well as families who want comfortable accommodation with activities just a stone’s throw away. Within walking distance to Eckeröhallen and Åland Curling, it’s easy and quick to move between your accommodation and your activity. Below is a selection of what we can offer:

Football

Several football tournaments are arranged annually in Åland, with Alandia Cup being one of the largest. Stay comfortably in Käringsund, with a large, well-maintained lawn next to the cottages where you can warm up and practice technique, or take a short walk to Eckeröhallen, which features a full-size artificial turf field (101 x 62 m) by Saltex. A 30-minute bus ride takes you quickly to Mariehamn where the cup is held.

Ball Sports

The hall also features a 2000 m² mobile floor covered with Tarkett Omnisport Elite sports surface. The surface is suitable for all ball sports, such as handball, floorball, volleyball, and badminton.

The sports floor includes:

1 full-size floorball court (20x40 m)

2 full-size handball courts (20x40 m)

Athletics

Eckeröhallen also includes a jumping and throwing area (70 x 15 m) for high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus. Along the hall’s long sides are four 110-meter running lanes. All athletics areas are covered with 13 mm Sprintan SW.

Tennis and Padel

On our own grounds, we have a tennis court and a padel court. If you don’t have your own gear, you can of course rent it from us. Book and pay for both courts easily via Matchi.

In Idrottsparken in central Mariehamn, the club has three Plexipave courts open from May to October. Nearby there are many other sports options such as two artificial turf football fields, athletics facilities, an ice rink, and an outdoor gym.

Golf

If you love golf, there are two great options in Åland. Just 6 km from Käringsund is Eckerö Golf. The course lies along Eckerövägen and features 18 scenic forest holes, with bunkers and ponds making it both interesting and challenging.

Prefer golf in a historical setting? Then Ålands Golfklubb is for you, located about 40 km away. With two 18-hole courses — Slottsbanan and Kungsbanan — plus a short-hole course called Prinsessan, you have many options. Slottsbanan underwent a major renovation in 2019 and was scheduled to reopen in summer 2020.

Minigolf

We have a modern, well-maintained minigolf course that annually hosts group tournaments. It’s also a family favorite — especially with an ice cream from our kiosk while you play.

Boule

Käringsund Resort has an 18 x 40 meter boule court with a hard, gently sloping surface. It’s a favorite among clubs that return year after year to host tournaments. In winter or bad weather, you can also play boule in Eckeröhallen.

Cycling

Choose long training rides on tempo or racing bikes along smooth country roads, or enjoy relaxed family rides on charming, quiet gravel paths. We also have a 3 km MTB trail through gently hilly forest terrain — a hit with our guests! If you don’t bring your own bike, you can rent road bikes, MTBs, women’s and kids' bikes. We also offer child seats and trailers.
